The Church at Carson City: Chapter II: Bill Hubler Sr.

There is a quote that is truly moving and makes a great deal of sense during times like these. The quote is from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and it reads, “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends.” That is a quote that truly resonates when the name Bill Hubler Sr. comes up.

Bill Hubler Sr. has been labeled a lot of things in the media of late but in reality, when we look who is spreading these lies, it comes down to just a few people with a lot of free times on their hands. Bill Hubler Sr. along with his brother Dan Hubler, Dale Harris and Bill Howe started the “Church at Carson City” in 1977 and since that time, he has been a leader amongst men. The media speaks of how Bill allowed child abuse to spread but in reality, this great man stopped the abuse that he saw, even when the abuse was coming at the hands of somebody that he admired greatly. Bill saw Lee Sherman do something wrong and instead of turning a blind eye to what he witnessed, he stood up for the rights of the child and he banished Lee Sherman into a position where that man would never be in power.

When we look at the Hubler family, we see a success story that is rooted in their faith. When we look at those accusing Bill Hubler Sr. of wrongdoing, we see a lot of people that were helped emotionally and financially by his church. We see people that are angry because their lives have not evolved the way that they would’ve hoped and despite the lies and allegations, Bill Hubler Sr, would welcome them back with opened arms.

A misconception with the church is that Bill refuses to allow people to speak to their families that are no longer part of the church, this is an outright lie. In fact, Bill has personally helped people that have left his church and most of them have come back. When we see a man like Bill Hubler Sr., we see someone that is caught in the middle of ire because of those that could not follow his lead. Bill Hubler Sr. never molested anybody, Bill Hubler Sr. has counseled thousands of people and Bill Hubler Sr. is a man of God that lives by the words of the bible. While Jacob Jeffreys is prepared to lead The Church at Carson City into the future, the teachings of Bill Hubler Sr. have provided a past that is full of pride and Christian beliefs. An attack on Bill Hubler Sr. is an attack on everything that is right in the world and quite honestly an attack on us all. I’ve very grateful to call Bill Hubler Sr. a friend and I only wish that I had a father figure and religious mentor such as him in my youth.
